ROOKIE HERO COP: A rookie member of the PNP-Maritime Group (PNP-MG) never thought that he would become an instant hero as he rides a bus home last April 1, 2011.
PO1 Randy Christian A. Martires, at around 11:30 in the morning on Friday, boarded AC Bus Liner at Camp Crame, Santolan, Quezon City going home after his duty, but upon reaching Trinoma Mall, in Quezon City, three (3) suspects armed with a caliber 38 revolver and bladed weapons, announced a robbery / hold-up and immediately divested cash and belongings of the passengers. Unknown to the suspects, PO1 Martires was seated in the middle of the bus, grabbed his service firearms and told the suspects to surrender. One of the suspects attacked and stabbed the off-duty police, prompting him to shot the suspect, wounding the right side of his body and was brought to the nearby Quezon City General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival (DOA) by attending physician. The suspect was later identified as Nelson Laconsa. |
