Activities that uplift the quality of life of the people

Although perceptions of the role of police generally consist of crime prevention and order maintenance, there are various service-oriented functions and activities being performed by the police that involve full partnership with the community. Recently, the Manila Police District donated second-hand but functional goods to Caritas Manila Foundation Incorporation as part of its service to the public.

Caritas Manila Foundation Incorporation is the social services and development ministry of the Archdiocese of Manila, with programs directed towards the total human development of disadvantaged groups such as urban poor women and children and promotion of social justice in the light of the Catholic Church’s social teachings.

The goodies were personally handed to Rev. Fr. Anton Bernardo, who is the chairman of Caritas-Manila as part of their project called Segunda Mana in which donated items will be put up for sale.  This activity is inline with the program of Manila Police District to help uplift the conditions of life of the people.  The Manila Police District helped in the income generating efforts of the foundation by donating goods which will be sold to generate funds for its future projects.  Proceeds will go to charitable projects and programs of Caritas Manila for the poor and the marginalized sector.
