An estimated 1,000 police and military personnel will run alongside 100 Catholic priests, Muslim Imams and other leaders of religious congregations in a covenant run for clean and orderly elections dubbed “Takbo Para sa Malinis, Maayos at Mapayapang Halalan 2010” tomorrow (Saturday, Jan 30) in Quezon City.

Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan — Policemen in this town would be made to pay the value of stolen cows if it is proven that they are remiss in their jobs.

Speaking at the recent celebration of the 14th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month at the Banaoang Central School in this town, Mayor D. Reynaldo Velasco, former three-star police general, reported that for every stolen cow in this town, the chief of police is going to pay 50 percent of the value of the animal, while his men are going to shoulder the remaining 50 percent of the amount.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo honored this year’s 10 awardees of the Search for the Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS) in ceremonies at the Malacañang Palace. 

The awardees were Police Superintendent Dionardo B. Carlos, Police Superintendent Eliseo D. Cruz, Police Chief Inspector Alden B. Delvo, Police Superintendent Eric E. Noble, Senior Police Officer 1 Gaudencio N. Callo, Senior Police Officer 4 Baltazar Q. Carillo, Police Officer 3 Manuela P. Cueto, Police Officer 3 Arturo D. Melchor, Jr., Senior Police Officer 2 Danilo R. Nazareno, and Police Officer 2 Sherill G. Ybañez.
