The Metrobank Foundation, Inc. and the Rotary Club of New Manila East, in partnership with PSBank and the Philippine National Police, have embarked on an information campaign in different regions throughout the country, to gather more nominations for the 2010 Search for Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS) before the deadline of submission on March 1.
The information campaign has covered seven cities - Iloilo, Butuan, Legazpi, Naga, Laoag, Vigan and San Fernando in Pampanga. Slated on the second week of February is the information campaign to be held in Kalibo, Aklan. “The information campaign is one of the ways through which we, the Search’s organizers, reach out to the sector that we serve, as well as to the general public. Through this, we hope to encourage the members of the PNP and the leaders of the various sectors of the society to nominate qualified policemen and women to the Search for COPS,” said Aniceto “Chito” Sobrepeña, president of the Metrobank Foundation. COPS is an annual search that recognizes the shared responsibility between the police and community by honoring exemplary members of the PNP who have worked with their communities in solving and preventing crime. “The Metrobank Foundation, PSBank and the Rotary Club of New Manila East recognize the police’s efforts in working with the community in maintaining peace and order. This Search is one of the ways through which the private sector shows appreciation for the police’s sacrifices in performing their sworn duty,” said Duke Zuluaga, president of the Rotary Club of New Manila East. Each year, four commissioned officers and six non-commissioned officers are named as COPS awardees. Aside from the honor of being one of the country’s top policemen and women, each winner will receive P250,000 and a trophy courtesy of the Metrobank Foundation. A policeman or woman who has been in the service for at least seven years, of good moral character, and with no pending administrative or criminal case can be nominated by his or her direct supervisor, the PNP regional director, city or municipal mayor, provincial governor, Rotary Club, and non-government or church organizations. Nomination forms are available at all Metrobank and PSBank branches, participating Rotary Clubs, PNP regional commands, and local police stations nationwide. Forms can also be downloaded at www.cops.com.ph and www.pnp.gov.ph. Accomplished nomination forms should be submitted to the nearest Metrobank or PSBank branch; the Metrobank Foundation Office, 15/F Metrobank Plaza, Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City; or the Directorate for Police Community Relations, PNP General Headquarters, Camp Crame, Quezon City. |
