The leadership of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) gave an unprecedented honor to a lowly ranked member of the Bataan Provincial Police Office who was earlier chosen as one of the Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS).
Given a special award during last Monday’s program attended by top Philippine National Police (PNP) officials and newsmen in Camp Olivas, headquarters of the PNP in Central Luzon, was SPO2 Danilo Nazareno, who is assigned at the provincial intelligence branch here as chief clerk.
The special award for Nazareno came in the wake of a program launched by Metrobank Foundation to give recognition to outstanding members of the PNP – whether they are commissioned or non-commissioned officers.
The program was launched several years ago by the Metro Bank Foundation in partnership with PS Bank and the Rotary Club of New Manila East to honor policemen and policewomen with exemplary performance in the field of police service.
It was reported that there were 109 nominees for the CPOS, but this was reduced to only 20 during the initial screening. After a thorough review, the Metro Bank Foundation finally chose the 10 most outstanding policemen.
The winners were awarded plaques of merit at the Malacañang Palace last July 6 by President Arroyo, and each winner was given P250,000 as monetary reward by the Metro Bank Foundation. Likewise, the Regional Office 3 gave Senior Supt. Manuel Gaerlan, Bataan police director, who was given a special recognition by the PNP regional director for being installed as “Best Provincial Police Officer” in the Hall of Fame at Camp Olivas.
The Bataan Police Office ranked No. 1, based on the operational accomplishments for the months of February, March and April, this year.
Colonel Gaerlan who graduated at the Philippine Military Academy (class 1985) said that the Bataan police office is doing its best and will continue to do its best to serve and protect the Bataeños.
