For nearly two decades, SPO1 Selloriquez has made good use of an extensive network of community informants, along with old fashioned police work, to compile a service record that speaks of his profound appreciation for the value of partnership between the community and law enforcement authorities. His exploits have not only earned him medals and awards, including the distinction of being named the “Best of the Best” as Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year on the occasion of the 15th NCRPO Anniversary in 2005, as well as the Most Outstanding Policeman of San Juan in the same year, but the respect and admiration of his peers and the community as a whole.
Aside from the usual parade of criminals and lawless elements that he has helped put behind bars, SPO1 Selloriquez’ favorite targets have been drug syndicates, which led to the recent discovery and confiscation of eighteen pots of cultivated marijuana plants and cultivation tools right in the heart of Metro Manila. To date, his relentless campaign throughout his career has driven almost three hundred pushers and maintainers or protectors of the illegal drug trade – including colleagues in uniform – out of business, in turn forcing hundreds of drug dependents to mend their ways. As part of his strategic approach to harness and maximize the cooperation of the community, SPO1 Selloriquez organized the Youth Volunteers and Action Croup (VOLTAG) as a network of confidential informants. He also proposed the establishments of a barangay Drug Desk as a grassroots mechanism to handle drug-related problems in the community in his anti-drug advocacy, he has translated his enormous experience into printed resource materials, which he uses in the conduct of seminars in schools and barangays throughout his area or responsibility.
A true-blue Manileño, SPO1 Selloriquez took up BS in Civil Engineering at the Far Eastern University. He now lives in General Trias, Cavite with wife Henrietta and their three children. |
