PSupt. Cruz embodies the best qualities of a public servant and a police officer, a fact amply supported by the sterling record of achievements he has built in the course of a colorful, 23-year career in the PNP. In addition to two Ten Outstanding Policemen of the Philippines (TOPP) awards in 1998 and 1999, he has also received the prestigious Dangal ng Bayan Award in 1993 from the Civil Service Commission. His exploits has likewise earned him three spot promotions, all testaments of his gallantry, professionalism, competence and integrity as a law enforcer.
A long time nemesis of criminal elements, PSupt. Cruz is instrumental in breaking the backbone of big-time international drug syndicates plying their illegal trade in the country, as well as in neutralizing kidnap for ransom and robbery-hold up gangs. Just as impressively, however, his innovative approach to crime prevention is a study in resourcefulness and showcase of his immense talent, which are well complimented by an inexhaustible dedication to the ideals of law enforcement and commitment to public service. His original “Santa Cop” concept, which has since been successfully implemented as a regular yuletide project of many PNP units, a breakthrough 30-minute TV series on the real-life exploits of various law enforcement units that ran for two seasons, “Pulis na Palaban”, and his landmark audio-visual production in DVD format on the different modus operandi of common criminals, are all hallmarks of his serious desire not to just educate the public, but to enlist the help of the citizenry and work in the promotion of peace and order. In a personal capacity, he usually undertakes disaster relief missions in depressed and remote communities in selected areas in Luzon.
After completing a four-year course in aeronautics school, PSupt. Cruz went on to ear another Bachelors degree, this time in Public Safety, from the Philippine National Police Academy. He also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Wesleyan University. A native of Manila, PSupt. Cruz has three children with wife, Jennifer. |
