A 24-year veteran of the PNP, PSupt. Andol credits the community for transforming him into the best police officer that he can possibly be, and actually derives utmost satisfaction in hearing the public whom he serves say that he has performed his job well. Moral and psychic rewards aside, he has earned numerous distinctions from the PNP for his no-nonsense approach to law enforcement, particularly in terms of engaging the community. Under his leadership, the Police Regional Office-Cordillera was named the best Regional Office in the Field of Police Community Relations (PCR) nationwide in 2006. A year before, PSupt. Andol earned two awards, the PCR Officer of the Year Award and Police Commissioned Officer for Administration of the Year, both at the Regional Level.

While relatively young in her law enforcement career with just over eleven years of service, PCInsp. Galero has achieved much more than what many of her male colleagues can only aspire for. On top of numerous medals and commendations from the PNP, she has also earned recognition from the civilian sector, highlighted by the award she received from the Zonta Club of Makati as one of the Ten Outstanding Police Women of the Philippines in 2006. Her special expertise in the delicate science of forensic evidence has also earned her regular stints in TV, and has made her fixture in court hearings as an expert witness.

In addition to two Ten Outstanding Policemen of the Philippines (TOPP) awards in 1998 and 1999, he has also received the prestigious Dangal ng Bayan Award in 1993 from the Civil Service Commission. His exploits has likewise earned him three spot promotions, all testaments of his gallantry, professionalism, competence and integrity as a law enforcer.

Lopez, however, working with the community is the only way to properly exercise their responsibilities as public servants and achieve their objectives of securing as well as preserving pace and order. Beyond mere lip service, his remarkable record of accomplishments and long list of awards and commendations over the last 16 years, including national awards for two different police stations that were under his command, and two citations as Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Region 1, are all testaments of his significant contributions to the PNP’s mission to actively engage the community in its law enforcement duties.

While his exploits in crime solution has led to the arrest of notorious all duly recognized criminal syndicates, all duly recognized in the form of numerous medals from the medals from the police and military hierarchy – including a special award from the United States Department of Justice-Federal Bureau of Investigation – as well as by way of various commendations from local government units, his work with farmers, indigenous communities and the youth are just as significant, if not more meaningful.

While the youngest in this year’s batch of awardees holds one of the shortest service records of all the nominees, PO3 Salazar’s impressive list of accomplishments should inspire many of his colleagues to aspire for similar heights of excellence in their law enforcement careers. Not only has he achieved a childhood dream to serve his fellowmen, but his efforts have earned him respects and admiration from his peers and top brass in the PNP, as well as the gratitude and appreciation of the public whom he serves. In 206, the distinction of being the “Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year” at the national level, the “Outstanding Criminologist in Mindanao” given by the Professional Criminologist Association of the Philippines, and the “Outstanding Alumnus of the year” from the Holy Trinity College in General Santos City were among the most significant accolades that were added to those that he has received over the last eleven years.

His exploits have not only earned him medals and awards, including the distinction of being named the “Best of the Best” as Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year on the occasion of the 15th NCRPO Anniversary in 2005, as well as the Most Outstanding Policeman of San Juan in the same year, but the respect and admiration of his peers and the community as a whole.

What the Treasurer’s Office of the local government of General Santos City lost, the PNP and the larger community gained in the person of SPO2 Tugonon. Sixteen Years after joining the PNP in 1991, the former Tax Collection Officer has earned no less than nine medals and 30 commendations for gallantry in action and efficient and effective police work. More importantly, by personifying the highest ideals of public service, he has made a significant impact in the communities that he serves both as a competent law enforcer and a dedicated barangay official.

In addition to the a host of awards and distinctions he has earned over the years, his well rounded approach to public service through law enforcement has merited two major awards in 2006 for having made such a impact on the public, the Best Police Community Relations Junior Non-Commissioned Officer for Police Region IV-A (Calabarzon) and the Best Police Officer of the Year from the provincial government of Rizal.
