SPO3 Bunda’s nineteen-year career as a police non-commissioned officer exemplifies the successful collaboration between law enforcement authorities and the community. In the course of many successful operations against criminal elements and insurgent groups, the support and cooperation of local leaders, coupled with intelligence reports provided by community informants, played a key role in the accomplishments of police and military objectives. These include the eradication of marijuana plantations and the arrest of big-time cultivators, the apprehension of members of drug syndicates and the confiscation of illegal substances, and counter-insurgency action against Muslim secessionist groups under the National Recovery and Development Program of the government
Utilizing his vast experience in fighting the drug menace, SPO3 Bunda spearheaded the establishment of the local Kilos Laya Laban sa Droga Movement, as a result of which, he is often invited to give lectures on drug abuse and prevention. He is also an active meber of a religious community, from where he reaches out to families as well as members of Muslim communities to preach the values of peace, unity, and prayer as elements of progressive multi-cultural society. He has also organized a branch of the Couples for Christ, the Sword of Gideon, to bring his colleagues in the PNP closer to God.
A native of Iloilo, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Criminology from the University of Iloilo, SPO3 Bunda now resides in Sultan Kudarat with is wife, the former Yolanda Chiva, and their four children. |
