duranaChief, Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response (PACER)
National Capital Region Police Office, Taguig

After nearly two decades in the police force, P/Supt Durana can lay claim to a host of significant achievements, including the resolution of a number of high-profile cases, the arrest of primary suspects, and the neutralization of notorious criminal gangs and the capture of their leaders. Aside from acting as the chief investigator and leading the planning and execution of operations that led to the neutralization of the dreaded Ilonggo-Waray kidnap-for-ransom group, he also led teams that apprehended members of the dreaded robbery-holdup groups. His work with informants in the community as part of his barangay intelligence networks likewise proved crucial in his success as a police officer, as exemplified in his involvement in the arrest of the key suspects in the Calauag Massacre and the capture of a couple dubbed as the “King and Queen” of a huge pyramiding scam.

Just as importantly, his contributions to the community have transcended the line beyond law enforcement. Through his initiative, landmark projects for urban renewal, peace and order, values formation among PNP members, livelihood and skills training for crime offenders and vulnerable groups such as juvenile delinquents and prostitutes, drug awareness and illegal substance abuse prevention seminars were successfully adopted and implemented. His encompassing approach to stakeholder involvement sees the active participation of different sectors of the community, including business organizations, religious institutions, the academe, other government agencies and the NGO community. His efforts, for example, led to a substantial donation of an exhaust and insulation system at a police precinct, computers, as well as P1.2 million worth of school supplies for police dependents.

A native of Iloilo and an alumnus of the Philippine Military Academy, where he graduated cum laude, P/Supt Durana is also a Doctor of Philosophy in Peace and Security Administration, which he earned from Bicol University. He is married to former Marife Cabula, with whom he has two children.
