PO3 Lorenzo Guevara is currently detailed with the Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response – Mindanao Oriental (PACER-MOR) based in Agdao, Davao City, as Chief, Intelligence and Operation PNCO. Since entering the police force in 1991, PO3 Guevara has shown outstanding gallantry, selfless dedication, and exemplary competence and professionalism in the performance of his tasks, a fact evidenced by no less than 16 medals he has received from the PNP, as well as various commendations he has received from private sector organizations. In 2000 and 2001, he was honored as the Junior PNCO of the Year for his achievements, particularly in the campaign against illegal drugs.
As agent handler and team leader of surveillance and casing operations, PO3 Guevara is heavily involved in the campaign against kidnap-for-ransom (KFR) groups, counter-insurgency and anti-terrorist operations, and other criminal elements operating in Mindanao. His most recent accomplishments include the neutralization of international and Indonesian terrorist Fathor Roman Alghozie, where he was the assigned leader of the arresting team; the arrest of primary suspects in the twin bombing incidents in Koronadal City, South Cotabato; the arrest of KFR members operating in Mindanao Oriental and the rescue of at least two kidnap victims, including a Canadian national. As an intelligence operative, PO3 Guevara helped implement Project Sunrise in Basilan province, which strengthen the PNP’s interaction with communities heavily influenced by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and led to the surrender of 10 ASG members and the recovery of their firearms. He likewise helped establish contacts in various barangays in his area of operation, which led to the establishment of the Barangay Intelligence Network and the consolidation of information gathering from the community.
To complement his work in the field, PO3 Guevara is actively involved in the conduct of seminars on anti-kidnapping as well as on bomb threat management and identification. As part of his campaign against illegal drugs, PO3 Guevara provides free martial arts lessons to young people as a way of keeping them from picking up the drug habit.
A native of La Paz, Iloilo City, PO3 Guevara now lives in Midsayap, Cotabatao with his wife and three children. He is s graduate of the University of Mindanao, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology. |
