SENIOR POLICE OFFICER 2 ALEJANDRO ASTURIA MONSALE Print E-mail
monsaleCurrently the Chief of Police Community Relations of Police Precinct 2 of the Iloilo City Police Office, Police Regional Office 6 and a Family, Juvenile Protection and Gender Specialist, SPO2 Alejandro Monsale has devoted his life to public service. A 23-year veteran of the PNP, he has no less than 14 medals and at least 37 commendations from various commands and units in the PNP, along with other awards and distinctions from different socio-civic organizations and government agencies. In 2002, he was named one of the Outstanding Police Non-Commissioned Officers of the Year in a recognition program sponsored by the Philippine Association of National Advertisers and Citizens Crime Watch, in cooperation with the National Police Commission. The same year, his achievements and contributions helped his unit earn an award as the Most Citizen Friendly Police Station in Region VI, Highly Urbanized City Category.

Among his most notable accomplishments is his involvement in the anti-illegal drug campaign, which resulted in successful clearing operations in 9 out 13 barangays in La Paz District of Iloilo City that were previously identified as heavily influenced by drug syndicates. The same operations, conducted over a three-month period in June to August in 2003 led to the capture of at least 14 drug personalities. Previously, as Warrant and Subpoena Server, his competence and dedication resulted to the capture of more than a hundred fugitives throughout the island of Panay.

At the same time, his networking activities and proven rapport with the community led to the formation and training of PNP force multipliers, including barangay tanods, barangay officials and other volunteers. More importantly, SPO2 Monsale effectively harnessed partnerships with the private sector in procuring funds and other donations for infrastructure and logical requirements, such as the construction of police precincts and donation of patrol cars, not just of the PNP but of community-based organizations as well. He likewise initiated the conduct of a summer karate class for children and helped facilitate the creation of the official newsletter of the Iloilo City Police Force.

After earning a degree in Criminology from the University of Iloilo in 1971, SPO2 Monsale later completed a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Same university in 1991, but was unable to take the bar examination. A native of Iloilo City, this outstanding policeman is till a bachelor at 50.
