P/Supt Isaias Tonog is currently the Officer-in-Charge of the Northern Samar Police Provincial Office based in Camp Carlos Delgado, Catarman, Northern Samar. In active duty for almost 20 years, his outstanding accomplishments and exemplary service record has contributed to the internal security and public safety of the communities he has dedicatedly served with competence and professionalism.
His accomplishments in crime solution runs the gamut of police work, from campaigns against highway robbery to illegal drugs, illegal logging and fishing, illegal gambling, and the arrest of most wanted persons in the community. As Provincial Drug Enforcement Officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, he led operations against suspected pushers and drug lords in Region 8, which resulted to the arrest of at least 63 persons and the filing of 97 cases in an intensive 11-month campaign period in 2003.
Similarly, in his alternating capacities as Chief of the Special Operation/Counter Intelligence and Security Section of the Office of the Regional Intelligence and Investigation Division of Police Regional Office 8 and as Assistant Provincial Director of the Northern Samar Police Provincial Office from August 2002 to September 2003, his aggressive anti-criminality campaign led to the capture of at least 14 notorious criminals not just in the Leyte-Samar area, but in other places of the country where these fugitives have taken refuge.
Aside from competent and professional police work, P/Supt Tonog’s successful efforts are the result of painstaking collaboration with the community. His trainings and seminar workshops for barangay tanods, as well as a result of the Operation Magic Eye that he initiated as a citizen-based crime reporting system, gave him a corps of volunteers that provided a wealth of information on criminal activities. In addition, his “Ugnayan sa Paaralan” and Adopt-a-School programs ensured the constriction of the market for illegal drugs among youth, while a periodic saturation of jails in his area of responsibility lessened the incidence of detained criminals practicing their profession with the knowledge of conniving and corrupt elements of the police. As proof his concern over his fellow law enforcers and their families, P/Supt Tonog likewise initiated a legal assistance and livelihood program for police personnel and their dependents.
P/Supt Isaias Tonog is a native of Catarman, Northern Samar and an alumnus of the Divine Word University in Tacloban City, where he earned a degree in Education. The 44-year old father of five likewise obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Philippine College of Health Sciences in Metro Manila. |
